How do I check a source’s original and cropped pixel size?

Read the source-size information beside its top canvas distance guide.

Before you start

Select a source while arranging it in Preview and enable the relevant guides when needed.

Where to find it

The selected source’s top distance label in Preview.

Steps

  1. Select the source and inspect the top guide label.
  2. Read the source pixel width and height next to the distance.
  3. After cropping, compare the remaining pixel extent shown in parentheses.
  4. Review placement size separately when scaling the source on the canvas.

Check the result

You can distinguish source resolution from its remaining cropped pixels.

Helpful information

These are source pixels, not the source’s scaled canvas dimensions. The size can remain visible when the top distance is zero. Fully cropped remaining dimensions can read zero.

If something is wrong

Check the correct selected source and guide visibility. A live source may need to supply its dimensions first.
