Synchronize common source transforms in a duplicated scene
Let a duplicate follow the original positions and crop while keeping its own content choices.
Before you start
Open the intended collection and rehearse before changing a live production. Controls depend on your installed version and selection.
Where to find it
A duplicated scene’s Scene Settings > Sync common source transforms.
Use it
- Duplicate the intended original scene.
- Open the duplicate’s Scene Settings and check the displayed original scene name.
- Enable Sync common source transforms and Save.
- Move, resize, rotate or crop a common source in the original.
- Inspect the duplicate in each layout.
- Disable Sync and Save before editing the linked transforms independently.
Helpful information
The choice is off by default and appears only for a recorded duplicate. It follows the immediate original’s common source placements, including position, size, rotation, crop, alignment and bounds in each layout. It does not add deleted sources or remove duplicate-only sources. Visibility, order and effect chains are not copied by this option.
Linked placements cannot be transformed or unlocked while Sync is active. An enclosing group’s transform can also be locked to prevent indirect movement; independent siblings remain editable. This lock is separate from the normal user lock. Turning Sync off keeps the latest geometry and makes it editable. Removing the original detaches surviving duplicates at their latest values. Re-enabling Sync catches up again.
Use Clone to follow a whole scene’s live picture. Use this duplicate setting for common placement geometry. Visual-filter Sync is a separate chain setting.
