Arrange the workspace as floating panels

Use separate movable panels while keeping the application menu in a compact launcher.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Rehearse changes before using them during a live production.

Where to find it

File > Settings > Appearance > Use floating UI.

Use it

  1. Enable Use floating UI, choose Save and restart when your outputs can safely stop.
  2. Click the MCast logo in the compact launcher to open the application menus.
  3. Move and resize panels, and group compatible panels as tabs in the same workspace.
  4. Use View > Docks or View > Window to reopen a hidden panel.
  5. Use Output controls for output actions and Quick controls for source/transition actions.
  6. Save the arrangement through View > Workspace > Save Workspace.

Closing and restoring

Closing a tool hides that panel; use the menu to reopen it. The launcher’s Close action exits the application and follows its exit preferences. Check running outputs before exiting. A hidden panel is not the same as stopping a recording or broadcast.

Saved arrangements belong to the collection and workspace mode. Floating and docked arrangements are separate, and saved open/closed state takes precedence over first-use defaults. If a panel was moved to an unavailable monitor, reopen it and move it to an available display; use Reset Workspace only when you want the default arrangement.

Return to docked mode

Disable Use floating UI, save and restart. Saving a mode preference does not switch the current session immediately. Panels from separate layout workspaces cannot be grouped together.
