Custom Render and Use Preset

Choose reusable preset values or edit individual output/render-profile sections directly.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.

Where to find it

An output profile’s Render & Routing > Custom Render, or File > Output > Render Settings.

Set it up

  1. In an output profile choose Use Custom Render Presets under Render Settings Source.
  2. Choose Edit or open Custom Render.
  3. For each section, keep Use Preset on to select a saved preset.
  4. To use direct fields for that section, turn Use Preset off and edit its controls.
  5. Review Video Preset, Audio Preset, Output Resize Policy, Video Color Profile and Video Codec Profile together.
  6. Save the profile and correct any format/capability message before starting.
  7. Make a short recording or inspect the actual receiver to check picture and sound.

Five sections

Video controls final size, FPS and delivery rate choices. Audio controls sample rate, channels and bitrate. Codec controls encoders and tuning. Color controls format, space, range and HDR. Resize controls fitting a differently sized picture into the final output size.

Preset versus direct values

With Use Preset on, the selected saved preset supplies the section. Use its Edit/Create control if you want reusable values. With it off, the section’s direct fields are used for that profile. Editing a shared preset can affect other profiles that select it; direct fields belong to the profile being edited.

Layout editor difference

The layout editor also shows Use Preset cards, but its Save control requires Use Preset on in every section in the current interface. If Save is disabled there, re-enable each section and choose or create the intended saved presets. Do not assume a control has identical save behavior in every editor.

Final size and color checks

Video preset size is the final output size; resize policy controls how the layout fits that size. For layout/output color settings, keep SDR White Level at 300 nits and HDR Peak Level at 1000 nits where those brightness controls are offered. Select compatible color space/HDR settings and follow any capability message.

If saving or starting fails

Check all selected preset references, required fields, output type and format. Use Analyze in a saved render-profile editor where offered, then verify the receiver. A saved combination alone does not prove a particular device accepts it.
