Recording, broadcasting & outputs
External Output Type settings
Choose the delivery method for an External Output Profile. This is separate from choosing its picture feed.
Before you start
Open the collection and layout you intend to use. Prepare the devices, storage, or receiving service required by this workflow.
Where to find it
External Output Profile > Output Type and Output Type Settings.
Set it up
- Select the type required by the receiving device or service.
- Fill in only the type-specific fields displayed.
- Select compatible render and audio settings.
- Save, attach, and test the receiver with a safe feed.
Type reference
| Output type | Settings and meaning |
|---|---|
| Monitor | Monitor Display chooses the display; Fullscreen output controls presentation; Audio Output Device chooses the sound receiver. |
| SRT | Mode chooses Caller, Listener, or Rendezvous. Match Host, Port, Stream ID, Encryption, and Passphrase with the peer. Latency (ms) and Peer Latency (ms) provide recovery buffering. |
| RIST | Profile selects protocol compatibility. Buffer (ms), FIFO Size, and Packet Size affect recovery/buffering. Encryption and Shared Secret must match the receiver. |
| UDP MPEG-TS | Set Host, Destination Port, Local Port, IP Family, Bind IP Address, Buffer Size (bytes), TTL, and DSCP where offered. UDP delivery does not establish a TCP session. |
| TCP MPEG-TS | Connection Mode chooses calling/listening. Configure Host/ports, connection/listen timeouts, TCP keep-alive, and TCP no-delay where offered. |
| RTP MPEG-TS | Configure the media Destination/Local Port and RTCP Destination/Local Port, plus the network controls shown. Match the receiver’s port pairs. |
| NDI | Sender Name identifies the feed to receivers; Groups narrows discovery membership where supported. Alpha Channel controls the supported transparency format. |
| OMT | Sender Name identifies the feed to receivers; use the supported sender options displayed for this type. |
| DeckLink | Device / Output Port chooses hardware. Format Code, Duplex Mode, SDI Link Mode, Square Division Mode, and Level A Mode must fit that hardware/receiver. Use timing offset adds Timing Offset (pixels). |
Advanced network controls
IP Family selects automatic, IPv4, or IPv6 addressing. Bind IP Address and Local Port select local sending/listening details. Buffer Size (bytes) changes network buffering; TTL affects packet reach; DSCP requests packet priority. Timeouts limit waiting for connection/listen operations. Keep sender and receiver settings consistent. Advanced Arguments is for supplied type-specific options; leave it unchanged when not required.
If a type is unavailable
Availability depends on the platform, devices, and supported output capabilities. Check the application’s message and the receiving format; do not change unrelated network or hardware settings to bypass a failure.
