How do I record a single audio track?

Follow this workflow to record a single audio track.

Before you start

Prepare one mix: Master for the complete show, one enabled bus for selected inputs, or one input for an isolated microphone.

Where to find it

Output profile editor > Audio Track.

Steps

  1. Create or edit a Recording Output Profile and enable Record audio.
  2. Choose the folder and a compatible file format. Enable Record video if you also want picture.
  3. Open Audio Track and keep one intended track; remove unwanted extra tracks.
  4. Name the track and use Assign Input to choose Master, a bus, or an input.
  5. Leave ISO recording on disabled when you want the normal recording rather than extra isolated files.
  6. Save and attach through Recording Destination.
  7. Record a short sample, stop, and listen to the file.

Check the result

Open a short finished sample and verify that the recorded sound contains exactly the intended inputs.

Helpful information

One audio track can contain several microphones and music mixed together. Choose Master or a bus for a mixed track; choose an input when you only want that source.

If something is wrong

Check Record audio, the single track assignment, input/bus mute and sends, and the recording format. Hearing the microphone in headphones alone does not confirm it is recorded.
