Triggers and actions

Run actions when a selected application, scene, or source event occurs.

Before you start

Select the intended collection or item before changing its settings.

Where to find it

File > Triggers; source Properties menu > Trigger.

Use it

  1. Choose the event owner.
  2. Choose Add.
  3. Enter Trigger name and select Event.
  4. Set playback time/remaining when applicable.
  5. Set Start Delay, Cooldown, and Enabled.
  6. Choose Manage Actions.
  7. Add actions and choose targets/values.
  8. Order actions and choose Done.

Controls and additional tasks

Start Delay precedes the trigger. Cooldown prevents rapid reruns. Stop when inactive cancels delayed work after the owner becomes inactive. Each action Wait before action starts after the previous action is started, not after media finishes. The first action also waits for Start Delay. Disable a row to keep it without running it.

Additional workflow details

An action’s Wait begins after the previous action is started, without waiting for media playback to finish. The first action also waits for the trigger’s Start Delay. A subject wildcard * matches any subject where the editor permits it.
