Use scene and source triggers

React to a scene becoming active or to a source being shown, muted or played.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.

Where to find it

File > Triggers, then choose a scene/source; or source Properties menu > Trigger.

Set it up

  1. Select the exact scene or source in the trigger owner selector.
  2. Choose Add, name the rule and select its offered event.
  3. For a playback time/remaining event, enter the time in milliseconds.
  4. Set enabled state, delay, cooldown and inactive cancellation if offered.
  5. Add the intended actions through Manage Actions.
  6. Rehearse the selected event and check the action target.

Scene events

Program Active/Inactive follow the live Program scene. Preview Active/Inactive follow preparation in Preview. Overlay Active/Inactive and Underlay Active/Inactive follow scene use in their respective channels. Leaving Preview does not necessarily mean leaving Program.

Source events

Source Selected, Shown, Hidden, Locked and Unlocked follow that item’s interaction/state. Muted/Unmuted are available for audio-capable sources. Playback Started, Paused, Stopped, Completed, Time and Remaining depend on the source’s supported playback controls.

Playback completion versus stop

Playback Completed means media ends naturally with looping off. Playback Stopped means a manual stop. Playback Time reacts as playback crosses the chosen time; Playback Remaining requires looping off. Enable the event the actual source offers.

Example

For a title that should appear when a camera is on air, use that scene’s Program Active event and a Show Source action aimed at the title. Use Preview Active only if you intentionally want it while preparing the shot.
