Assign and change keyboard shortcuts

Run a specific production command with a key combination of your choice.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.

Where to find it

File > Shortcuts > Add Shortcut.

Set it up

  1. Choose Keyboard under Input device.
  2. Press the key combination you want; use Clear if the captured combination is wrong.
  3. Keep Trigger at When pressed.
  4. Choose the command category and command.
  5. Select the required target/value and Save in scope.
  6. Enable Shortcut enabled, then choose Save Shortcut.
  7. Test with the intended window focused.

Choose a safe combination

Use a combination you can distinguish from normal typing and focused editing keys. Ctrl+S, for example, stretches a source in the scene editor and saves in several other editing contexts; it is not a universal save key.

Change or disable

Open the assignment, capture a replacement combination and save it. Turn off Shortcut enabled to keep the configuration without running it. Remove deletes it.

If it does not run

Check captured input, target, enabled state, saved collection and the focus preference. Avoid testing start/stop broadcast shortcuts against a public destination.
