Advanced settings and shortcut focus

Choose process priority, the active-output exit warning and when assigned shortcuts respond.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.

Where to find it

File > Settings > System > Advanced.

Set it up

  1. Keep Process Priority at Normal - Recommended unless you have a specific reason to change it.
  2. Review Show active outputs warning on exit.
  3. Choose Shortcut Focus Behaviour for your working arrangement.
  4. Choose Save.
  5. Test a harmless assigned shortcut with the main window, another MCast dialog and another application focused.

Shortcut Focus Behaviour

ControlWhat it changes
Always Keep Shortcuts ActiveAssigned shortcuts remain available while MCast windows are focused.
Pause Shortcuts in Main WindowPauses assigned shortcuts while the main window has focus.
Pause Shortcuts in MCast WindowsPauses assigned shortcuts while any MCast window has focus.

Process priority

The choices range from background/low priority through Normal, Above Normal and High. Raising priority does not create more processing capacity and can leave other applications less responsive. Change it only after a rehearsal.

Exit warning

The active-output warning is separate from the ordinary exit confirmation in General. Keep it enabled if you want a reminder before leaving while an output is running.

If a shortcut seems broken

Check this focus preference, then the assignment’s enabled state, input, target and saved scope. Focused editor shortcuts such as Ctrl+S have their own context; see Keyboard shortcuts.
