How do I quickly listen to or mute one input in monitoring?

Use the ear control to change an input’s assigned monitoring sends.

Before you start

Assign the input to at least one monitor channel and select your listening device.

Where to find it

The input’s ear control in Audio Mixer or its Normal source controls.

Steps

  1. Select the intended input and inspect its ear control.
  2. Click it to listen on or mute all assigned monitoring channels when available.
  3. Listen through the selected output device and check that the show’s output mix is still as intended.
  4. For different states on different monitor channels, change those channels separately in input properties.

Check the result

The input changes its operator listening state on assigned channels.

Helpful information

The shortcut is unavailable when no channel is assigned or assigned channels have different mute states. It does not assign a new channel or mute the recording/broadcast track.

If something is wrong

Read the tooltip and check per-channel sends, channel enablement, Output Device and volume.
