Audio Output

Capture playback from an output device.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. For capture or network inputs, have the device or sender available.

Where to find it

Sources > Add > Audio Output.

Use it

  1. Open the scene that will contain the source.
  2. Choose Add in Sources.
  3. Select Audio Output in Create Source.
  4. Enter a name and choose New.
  5. Choose Device.
  6. Set Use Device Timestamps.
  7. Choose Save and Close (or OK where shown).
  8. Check the source in Preview before taking it to Program.

Controls and additional tasks

Default follows the configured default output. Mixer routing and monitoring are separate from device choice.

If something is wrong

If playback is silent, choose the device actually playing audio. Avoid monitoring captured output back into itself.

Stop or remove

Mute the input in Audio Mixer to stop its sound. Use its Stop or connection control if you also need to stop playback/capture. Remove the source item when it is no longer needed.
