How do I reduce speaker playback echo in my microphone?

Speaker playback picked up by the microphone should be reduced without losing the intended voice.

Before you start

Confirm which Desktop Audio slot captures the speaker playback.

Where to find it

Microphone Filters > Speaker Echo Cancellation.

Steps

  1. Add Speaker Echo Cancellation to the microphone/input.
  2. Choose the matching Desktop Audio slot.
  3. Adjust Reference delay only as needed and make a short speech/playback recording.
  4. Listen to the completed sample and check filter status.

Check the result

Speaker playback picked up by the microphone should be reduced without losing the intended voice.

Helpful information

Do not use the microphone itself as its reference. This cannot remove every echo; headphones or lower speaker volume can help.

If something is wrong

Check the reference capture and routing; missing/failed processing can mute the affected sound.
