Audio & monitoring

How do I fix audio that arrives before the picture?

Follow this workflow to fix audio that arrives before the picture.

Before you start

Use a visible clap or another clear picture/sound cue for comparison.

Where to find it

Audio Mixer input > Audio Input Properties.

Steps

  1. Open properties for the intended mixer input.
  2. Use Channel layout to choose the supported input layout.
  3. Adjust Input balance if needed.
  4. Set Sync offset in milliseconds when sound arrives before the picture.
  5. Review Master/bus routing and the per-monitor controls.
  6. Choose Save.

Check the result

Record a short sample and compare the sound with the visible cue.

Helpful information

The Input balance, channel layout, and sync offset guide explains the controls and options for this task. Save edited settings where offered, and check the intended scene, input, or destination before using them during a show.

If something is wrong

Review Sync offset on the correct input; checking headphones alone does not verify the recorded route.
