How do I choose monitoring defaults for new inputs?

Assign new inputs to monitor channel 0 or keep their monitoring assignment manual.

Before you start

Use the intended collection and a listening device.

Where to find it

First setup or the Collection profile editor.

Steps

1. Set Automatically assign monitoring channel to audio inputs on or off.
2. Choose Monitoring input default status: Mute or Monitor.
3. Save the collection choices, then add a new audio input.
4. Review its monitoring assignment and test through the intended headphones.

Check the result

The new input uses the chosen assignment/listening default.

Helpful information

Existing assignments and per-channel mute choices are retained. Listening is separate from the sound delivered by output tracks.

If something is wrong

Check the enabled monitor channel, Output Device, volume and the input’s monitor sends.
