Fade audio when changing scenes
Choose which inputs fade in and out with a scene transition.
Before you start
Open the intended collection and rehearse before changing a live production. Controls depend on your installed version and selection.
Where to find it
Audio Mixer panel menu: Use Fade In / Use Fade Out; input menu: Fade.
Use it
- Rehearse with two scenes that contain different audio inputs.
- Enable Use Fade In or Use Fade Out in the mixer panel menu for the collection default.
- Open an eligible input’s Fade menu to review its own choices.
- Use Exclude Fade In / Exclude Fade Out for an input that should ignore that fade direction.
- Change scenes with the intended transition and listen to the actual output mix.
Helpful information
Panel choices apply the default to eligible inputs. An input’s Use Fade In / Use Fade Out can opt it in when the corresponding panel default is off. Exclude takes precedence over either default or input opt-in. A Use option can be unavailable when the panel default already enables it.
A source present in both scenes stays continuous rather than being faded out and back in just because the scene changes. Inputs entering or leaving the picture follow their applicable fade policy. These controls do not replace mute, volume, bus routing, monitoring or media playback controls. Check the relevant input: not every mixer row offers scene-fade settings.
