How do I install or select a caption speech model?

Follow this workflow to install or select a caption speech model.

Before you start

Choose the caption language and available storage for the selected model.

Where to find it

File > Speech Models.

Steps

Select Fast or Smart engine settings.
Choose Add model.
Review Recommended or All models, or Import existing model.
Enter model details where requested.
Set the default model.
Choose Validate Fast or Validate Smart as applicable.

Check the result

Check model status and test a phrase in the subtitle source.

Helpful information

Model lists show language, size, quality, speed, and status. General Speech Models sets default engine/language/mode, logging, graphics acceleration, and temporary-file retention. Enable only the engine you intend to use. Removing a model can affect captions using it.

If something is wrong

If captions are unavailable, review model status and the enabled Fast/Smart settings.
