Text, countdowns, clocks, and stopwatches in templates

Use a text element for written content or an automatically updated time display.

Before you start

Open the collection and layout you intend to use. Prepare the devices, storage, or receiving service required by this workflow.

Where to find it

Motion Template designer > text element properties > Text Type.

Set it up

  1. Select the text element.
  2. Choose Type: Text, Countdown, Count-Up, Date Time, or Stopwatch.
  3. For Text, enter Content.
  4. For the selected timed type, set Range Seconds, Start Seconds, and its offered format.
  5. For Date Time, choose Date/Time Format, Custom Date/Time where needed, and Time Zone.
  6. Set font, alignment, wrapping, and sizing.
  7. Preview and save.

Formatting

Select Font chooses the font; Replace with brand font applies the template’s offered brand choice. H Align and V Align position the text within its area. Word Wrap permits wrapping; Auto Shrink/Auto Size adjust text fitting where offered. Vertical Text changes text orientation.

Transform and effects

Position X/Y/Z, Rotation, Scale, W/H, and Opacity % control the selected element. Designer effects are separate from source filters. Review readability and timing at the actual output size.
