Canvas and Preview preferences

Choose how sources snap, how Preview looks and how production views behave.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.

Where to find it

File > Settings > Workspace > Canvas & Preview.

Set it up

  1. Set Snap Sensitivity and choose snapping to the canvas edge, other sources, or the horizontal/vertical center.
  2. Review Preview colors, overflow, selection, safe areas and pixel guides.
  3. Review Studio Mode duplication and scene-switch behavior.
  4. Set Projectors and Multiview behavior.
  5. Choose missing-file checks, existing-source previews and scene/source card previews.
  6. Choose Save and check your normal editing arrangement.

Snapping and selection

Snapping helps place a source near selected edges or centers. Snap Sensitivity changes how close it must be. Allow on-screen source selection enables clicking visible unlocked sources in Preview; it does not unlock a locked item.

Overflow and guides

Overflow options govern content outside the canvas in the editing view. They do not enlarge the output picture. Safe areas and pixel guides are positioning aids. See Preview preferences and Preview guides.

Studio Mode

Duplicate scene prepares layout, visibility, crop and transform edits separately from Program. Duplicate sources additionally separates supported visual properties/filters, requires Duplicate scene, and can use more resources. Double-click transition, portrait arrangement, labels and swapping Preview/Program after transition are independent choices.

Projectors and Multiview

Projector options control cursor display, always-on-top, saved projector arrangement and fullscreen-per-screen limits. Multiview Click to switch between scenes enables switching interaction; rehearse before clicking it during a show.

Cards and missing files

Scene/source/overlay/underlay card and hover previews have separate toggles. Existing-source preview applies to sources of the currently selected source type. Check missing files when layout opens reports missing source and Dynamic Content media.
