How do I add an outer effect without changing its picture dimensions?

Fit padded content inside the existing filter dimensions.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and prepare sample content for a rehearsal. Confirm the controls are available in your installed version.

Where to find it

Advanced Stroke, Glow or Shadow (the glow entry may be labeled MCast Grow Advance) Padding > Maintain resolution.

Steps

  1. Choose an outer effect and Auto or Manual padding.
  2. Adjust the amount when Manual is selected.
  3. Enable Maintain resolution.
  4. Compare the content size, outside effect and final scene before saving.

Check the result

Padding fits proportionately inside the fixed filter dimensions.

Helpful information

The content becomes smaller to leave transparent room. With Maintain resolution off, the result expands while content pixel size stays unchanged. Inner effects and no padding do not create outer room.

If something is wrong

Review crop, Current/Original Edges, Solo and explicit Expand controls if the effect is clipped or seems unchanged.
