How do I soften a shape mask inward or outward?
Use Shape Feather to place the soft transition around a mask boundary.
Before you start
Add Advanced Mask to the intended source.
Where to find it
Advanced Mask > Shape Feather.
Steps
- Choose Mask Type Shape and the required shape.
- Choose Inner, Middle or Outer and increase Shape Feather Amount gradually.
- Compare None or zero for the hard-edge result.
- Review Invert and the final cropped scene picture.
Check the result
The mask softens on the intended side of its boundary.
Helpful information
Inner softens inside, Middle straddles the boundary and Outer extends outside. Dependent controls follow the chosen mask/shape mode.
If something is wrong
Check the mask mode, nonzero amount, crop and Edges choice. Use a contrasting background to see the transition.
