Use independent effects on one source placement

Give one occurrence of a shared source its own visual treatment.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and rehearse before changing a live production. Controls depend on your installed version and selection.

Where to find it

Select a source placement in a scene > Filters > Solo.

Use it

  1. Select the exact scene placement to change.
  2. Open its visual Filters and enable Solo.
  3. Add effects to the initially empty independent chain.
  4. Choose Edges > Current / Original for this placement and check the picture.
  5. Turn Solo off to return to shared effects; turn it back on to reuse its retained chain.

Helpful information

Solo bypasses the selected placement’s shared source effects. For a nested scene it also bypasses that referenced scene’s root effects; effects on the child sources inside the scene remain. Other placements keep their shared treatment. This does not make another copy of the camera, media or Browser session.

The Solo choice, chain and independent Edges preference follow that placement across its layouts. Each layout can still have its own transform/crop. Turning Solo off retains the independent chain and edge choice for later. Audio effects, group containers and a source-definition window without a selected placement do not offer this option. Copy/Paste Filters follows the selected placement scope, so check Solo before pasting.

Solo, visual-filter Sync and scene Sync common source transforms are different controls. Solo isolates effects; filter Sync shares a visual chain; scene transform Sync follows geometry.
