Choose Current or Original edges for visual filters

Choose whether a visual effect uses the cropped picture boundary or the original source boundary.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and check the result before using the change during a production. Available controls depend on your installed version and selection.

Where to find it

The visual Effects / Filters header: Edges > Current / Original, when offered.

Use it

  1. Select the intended cropped source and open Filters.
  2. Choose Current to apply effects relative to its remaining cropped picture.
  3. Choose Original to use the original picture boundary before its placement crop.
  4. Compare the result in the actual scene, including other uses of that source.

Helpful information

Current is the initial choice. With Current, a mask, border, glow or shadow can follow the visible cropped content. Original keeps the original picture boundary for filtering, then crops the placement; an outside effect may therefore be clipped. A source without crop can look the same with either choice.

Changing Edges updates the live picture; you do not need to move the source to refresh it. Edges is a source choice, while each placement can have a different crop. Review other scenes using that source. If visual filter Sync is enabled for references to the same scene, their Edges choice is synchronized too. Edges does not remove your crop or change the placement transform.
