Choose fixed or expanding guest grids

Control how many participant positions a grid uses and how several grids share the available guests.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and check the result before using it during a production. Controls depend on the installed version and current selection.

Where to find it

Dynamic Camera Grid > Properties > Fixed slots and its participant-count control.

Use it

  1. Choose the participant count used for the design preview.
  2. Check Fixed slots to use that count as the grid’s capacity, or clear it to allow live expansion.
  3. Arrange grid sources in the intended Sources-list order.
  4. Check the result with the full scene, including any nested scene grids.

Helpful information

A grid can accommodate up to 12 positions. Room admission still depends on your plan and can allow fewer guests; changing a grid does not upgrade guest access. With Fixed slots off, the selected count is for design preview and the live grid can expand up to the available capacity.

Grids take participants in front-to-back Sources-list order. A nested scene uses its place in that same order; opening the nested scene directly starts its own allocation from the beginning. Frame size does not give a grid priority. Use fixed capacity on earlier grids if later grids need remaining participants.

In new Normal starter layouts, Scene 1 and the narrow grid in Scene 6 use one fixed slot; other starter grids expand. These are creation defaults and do not overwrite later edits. Fit keeps the whole camera frame inside its slot; Fill fills the slot with cropping. Review it after resizing a flexible grid.
