How do I choose Window Capture transparency or compatibility options?

Use the options offered for the selected window and capture method.

Before you start

Open the intended collection and prepare sample content for a rehearsal. Confirm the controls are available in your installed version.

Where to find it

Window Capture > Properties.

Steps

  1. Open the target window, refresh the list and select it.
  2. Start with Automatic Capture Method and check the preview.
  3. For a supported method, enable Capture transparency when you need transparent areas.
  4. If BitBlt capture is blank, try its offered Compatibility capture and compare responsiveness.
  5. Save and check the actual scene after navigation, resize and reopening.

Check the result

The saved source captures the intended window with the available method options.

Helpful information

Compatibility capture can use more processing time and is off by default. Different methods expose different controls. Capture of a window is different from browser-tab sharing.

If something is wrong

Do not assume every blank source needs compatibility. Check target availability, permissions, method, covered-window behavior and the displayed warning.
