Why does my camera show video but no sound?

The intended camera/capture-device audio is heard and recorded on the expected track.

Before you start

Open the intended collection/layout and prepare a safe rehearsal. Have the device, media or receiving service required by the task available.

See Video Capture Device for the exact controls and navigation.

Open Video Capture Device Properties and check the selected Device.
Review Audio Output Mode and any audio-selection message.
If needed enable Use custom audio device and select the correct Audio Device.
Save and Close, then check the mixer meter and a short recording.

The intended camera/capture-device audio is heard and recorded on the expected track.

Video can continue when audio selection is still required. Do not choose an unrelated microphone automatically.

Check device permission, source mute and output-track assignment separately.
