How do I remove a source without affecting another scene?

Understand the difference between removing one placement and removing its final use.

Before you start

Check other scenes and outputs that use the same source.

Where to find it

The source item in the intended scene.

Steps

  1. Open the scene and select the item you intend to remove.
  2. Use Remove on that scene item.
  3. Check another scene that reuses the same source.
  4. If this was its final use, check Existing Sources; use Undo if the removal was a mistake.

Check the result

Another remaining use keeps the source available. Its catalog entry is removed when its last use is removed.

Helpful information

Unrelated unused sources are not cleared by this action. Use Remove unused for a collection cleanup. Shared output or other show references can keep a source available. Original media files are not deleted. Deleting an owned Normal gallery asset is a separate show-wide asset removal; check every scene using it first.

If something is wrong

Use Undo promptly if needed. Recreate or import a removed source when no reusable entry remains.
