Network inputs
Connect and keep network inputs ready
Preview a supplied network feed and choose how its connection behaves as scene activity changes.
Before you start
Open the intended collection and layout. Make changes during preparation and check a short rehearsal before using them in a live show.
Where to find it
A network source’s Properties > Connection.
Set it up
- Choose the correct input type and enter the sender’s Endpoint.
- Use protected authentication fields when needed and configure only the options offered for that input.
- Choose Connect Preview after entering or changing the connection details.
- Check the picture and use Stop if you need to end the preview connection.
- Set Reconnect when this source becomes active and Close the connection when this source is inactive for your show.
- Choose Save and Close, then switch between rehearsal scenes and check recovery.
Keep ready or release
Leave both lifecycle options off to keep the connection ready while switching scenes. Close when inactive releases it when no longer active; reconnect when active restarts it on activation. Hidden sources do not play audio. A source still used by another live view/output can remain needed.
Preview and playback
Changing an endpoint does not itself load the new feed: click Connect Preview. Live feeds use connection recovery. The available Loop/playback controls depend on whether the input supports playback; do not expect a live sender to rewind like a local video file.
Gateway, certificates and headers
Gateway address is offered for applicable input types. Use the sender/provider’s connection information. Keep remote certificate verification enabled where TLS controls apply. Additional headers are for non-sensitive headers; enter secrets in protected authentication fields.
If the feed does not load
Confirm the sender is running, input type matches the supplied endpoint, and network/permissions allow it. Correct details and click Connect Preview again. Use the source card’s Reconnect input control when offered for an interrupted saved feed.
Protocol-specific setup
For protocol-specific fields, open the guide for your selected input type. These connection lifecycle controls apply to the network input editor that offers them; device-discovery editors can have different controls.
